Cyclist of the Month for January 2009.
*** LATEST NEWS *** - North Pole Cycling Club

Willy John Mc Laughlin has just been confirmed as North Pole's Cyclist of the Month for January 2009.Willy has been training hard for the winter and despite the bad weather has clocked up signifigant miles especially on the Manor Roundabout route which is his speciality. He does not believe in drafting and prefers long flat routes where endurance is important.Willy has just purchased a top of the range carbon bicycle which is three pounds lighter than his old aluminium Giant. This will help him in the hillier routes.Willy is seen here competing in the National Hill Climb Championship at Mamore Gap in August 2008.He trained hard for that event and possibly holds the record for the most ascents of Mamore in one day(5) or in one week(20).He also plans to change to a 54 front cog gearing to enable him to get more speed on the flats. His performance improved steadily through 2008 and he will be a force to be reckoned with when competition starts in earnest in March 2009.
